We have a lot to be grateful for, to be excited about, and proud of where our Young Leaders are concerned here at LYLA! Below are some key highlights of the experiences our boys and girls have had, and the award that LYLA was nominated for within our first year of opening in September 2021!

Our End of Year Celebration & YLA Fundraiser was a special occasion, and enjoyed by all!


We had drill demonstrations, performances from our Young Leaders & Mentors, stall holders, special guests in attendance, raffle prize draws, our Young Leaders Award Ceremony, and to top it off, a fantastic performance by Afrobeats Artist, Multiple Award Winner, Co-Founder of SONA (School of New Africa) & Community Support, Fuse ODG!


Gambia Fundraiser: This is an opportunity of a lifetime for our Young Leaders to connect with a deeper knowledge and pride of Self, gain and exchange knowledge and skills with the local youth in The Gambia, and support community initiatives. 


Please continue to donate whatever you can so we can meet/exceed our target - our mission is BIG, but we know with the community's continued love and support, we can and we will achieve it!

2022 Joint Academy Unity Day

Our boys and girls from The Westside Young Leaders Academy (WYLA), Lewisham Young Leaders Academy (LYLA), Eastside Young Leaders Academy (EYLA) and Milton Keynes Young Leaders Academy (MYLA) all came together for a beautiful celebration of our young people's Black Excellence during our first Unity Day! With over 500 adults and children in attendance, it was a monumental occasion!

LYLA's Recognition

We are blessed with the most amazing parents and children, and do everything that we can to serve our community. Although we do not do this for praise, it is humbling and a beautiful thing that the Community can see what we want to achieve, recognises our mission and celebrates this with us and for us.


For this, we are forever grateful, and we want to thank every single person and organisation that has nominated us for an award and for voting that we should be recognised.

In late 2020, St Dunstan's was named Independent Co-educational School of the Year at the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year Awards, and named Independent Senior School of the Year at the Tes Awards June 2022.


We are proud that The Lewisham Young Leaders Academy (LYLA) partnership has been shortlisted for a national social mobility award.

Our Parents Are Simply The Best!

I want to give a massive shoutout to the organisers and parent volunteers for the Ipswich trip. My daughter spoke about it the whole weekend from the notes she made. Already I can see the outpouring of intellect and grace from the young leaders and it's a beautiful thing! LYLA I appreciate and love you - Give thanks!

My daughter wants to become a doctor and she was able to get all of her questions answered. The opportunity seems so much more real to her and she was so inspired. This is amazing works that the Lewisham Young Leaders Academy is doing with our young minds. LYLA is giving them hope and so much to aspire to - forever grateful and I thank you dearly for what you are doing for the next generation.
